Playa Pavones Costa Rica
Pavones Costa Rica is known for its world class surf: it is home to the second longest left point break in the world! Surf legends have recorded rides up to 2 minutes long in Pavones. Downtown Pavones is the area, which is walkable to restaurants, bars, stores, right in the middle of the action. It also has many “cabinas” and places to stay located near direct beach access, which makes it a desirable place for visitors to come to enjoy the surf with easy town accessibility. The beach wall, soccer field, and community salon are host to events throughout the year such as markets, cultural events, music, and holiday events
Pilón
After coming down the mountain on the main road from Conte, the first beach you will arrive at once at the coast is Pilón. Pilón is a stunning, sought-after beach town in Pavones Costa Rica for its perfect left point break waves, its serene beauty, and its less commercialized ambience. Residencies in this area are fewer and farther between, but its off-the beaten path destination is a hidden treasure!
Playa Zancudo
Playa Zancudo is known for its expansive 6-km long black sand beach deep inside the Golfo, with sandbars, no rocks and no reef, which makes it super swimmer-friendly! The surf is softer, ideal for all to enjoy, even body surfers and boogie-boarders. Zancudo is a casual atmosphere considered to be a backpacker’s oasis, with affordable accommodations, restaurants and bars. Boaters and offshore fishing enthusiast also like this beach for its boat storage, ramp, and riverfront property providing dockage.
Cocal Amarillo
Cocal Amarillo in Pavones is a neighborhood located right along the beach road heading South to Pavones, about 5 minutes before the downtown area. This is an intimate, peaceful, residential area of Pavones with some of the most up and coming new developments with many expat homeowners. Some of the best new construction and modern residencies of the area are here.
La Hierba
From beaches to mountaintop views this more developed community of Pavones is a popular location for expatriates. It hosts Friday taco nights at Gyspy Wagon, a new beachfront bar there, Pepe’s mill for all your furniture needs, a school, and beautiful beaches. The beaches are mostly deserted, and crystal clear streams with pools spilling into the ocean. Central location between Pavones and Pilon make this community popular by providing close proximity with privacy. Popular home sites at the top of the mountains here have full Golfo Dulce views and wild jungle surroundings.
